Xiaomi got second position in selling the fitness bands
Xiaomi became the second world’s largest company to sell the
fitness track bands in the first quarter of the year 2015. The China smart
device maker, up to now is in the second position by selling 2.8 million
wearable bands in the first quarter of 2015. According to a new report by
International Data Corporation(IDC), Xiaomi shipped more wearable devices in
the first quarter of 2015 than any other companies fitband since 2009 except
San Fransisco based Fitbit.
Xiaomi’s First quarter sale
A total of 2.8
million devices are shipped by the Xiaomi. While Fitbit shipped 4 million
devices who is in leading position. However, Apple company was not included in
this report, because Apple starts its shipment from April onwards.
The company decided to expand its wearables range by making
partnership with US-based Misfit to help the company to bring its fitness
trackers and other smart devices to the Chinese market. Recently, Xiaomi
started it’s online store in the US. The online store only sells accessories
like powerbanks, headphones, fitness bands etc.
The fitness band- not made by Xiaomi
However, the Xiaomi’s tracker does not have all the features
compared with it’s contenders Apple and Fitbit, its low price US $12 helped it
to reach second postion and to gain profits in the market. The Mi Fitness
tracker is not actually designed by Xiaomi itself, with the help of Huami
Technologies it bought fitness trackers in to the market. Xiaomi focuses
primarily on smartphones, tablets and other smart devices not on the fitness
bands.
Though currently Xiaomi’s wearable only tracks steps and
sleep, the company entered into a partnership with Alipay, the Alibaba
subsidiary which dominates China’s third party payments market, to create
wearable payment devices.
